| Function | Catalyzes the aldol cleavage of fructose 1,6-biphosphate to form two triosephosphates dihydroxyacetone phosphate and D- glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate in glycolysis as well as the reverse stereospecific aldol addition reaction in gluconeogenesis.
